Well, I think that's all, folks!

While I have a few things I could post, I've been progressing further and further from my original intention with this blog in a vain attempt to do the "one a day for a year" thing. It ain't gonna happen. I will leave you now with the last two, and most recent, fish knives from my collection. I'm now going to turn my attention to a new blog...DucksEatLamb. It's about an ancient strategy game that I recently uncovered, and I'm going to recreate the most famous DucksEatLamb game ever played (way back in 1932). I haven't started yet, but soon you'll be amazed!

Opium, anyone?

This is "supposed" to be a Chinese opium snuff box I received as a free gift when I purchased a lot of (what else) fish knives. It may be real or it may be tourist junk. The workmanship ain't great, but I guess if you're a tweaker you can't expect miracles. It's jade, or jadeite, or something. I use it to keep a few heirloom seeds in. From some very special tomato plants. Heirlooms.

I see the moon

The moon guitar, that is. This is a yueqin - a Chinese lute. It's a modern version. Traditionally, it is strung with 4 strings. Right now, mine only has 3. I have it tuned to some weird tuning, and have used it on some of my recordings as "ambiance". Virtuosos on this instrument are tryly amazing...

Needle case

We think this wooden "box" is a Chinese needle case. It appears to be turned from a single piece of wood, with a threaded top and Chinese (?) characters inked on the side. Whatever - it's a pretty cool piece that I bought in a nearby antique store for about $5. I use it to hide..stuff..in.
